Fellas, got this from another site. Here are the comments and picture:
"This is one huge NT buck to say the least. According to the informatin I received this buck was killed in Mclean County, Illinois. I don't know the name of the fortunate hunter that bagged this great trophy but he is apparently a buddy of the cousin of the guy I got the info through. I'm told the bowhunter that killed this fine buck lives in Kappa and is a policeman in Bloomington but I don't have his name."

Heck of a deer, but a green antler tag? Mine are yellowish. Are the green ones landowner tags or something?

I talked to the guy last night. He is a super nice guy and a heck of a hunter. He has killed numerous P&Y bucks and works hard at it. I know that he is very unhappy that these photos are out. They were taken at his home the night he brought the buck home by the large crowd that had gathered. He has over 100 good digital feild shots that were taken the next day and is going to send me some today. I will try to get his permission to post them and his name. He has a ton of repect for whitetails and does not want to see any deer portrayed in the back of a truck like this.

That's a deer farm tag Jason. Dept. of Ag puts them on the captive deer to show that they've been tested for CWD.

This sport is ATE UP with jealousy. Jerry, can you tell me why in the hell you would make such a comment about a person and a hunt that you know nothing about??? Must every big buck be degraded by this crap? Can't we accept the fact that big bucks do get killed by honest and ethical hunters?

I'm personally glad to hear the guy doesn't like that photo because it does suck. Second what are you clowns doing guessing at a deers score went you can't even see all the points, & width.
Don, I ran into another one of your favorite people yesterday, it is most definitely not a coincidence either. |

Good grief Don. Chill already. With as much stuff that you've dished out, you should be better at taking it.
That is one heck of a big deer. |

Terry, there was nothing aimed at ME so it is not a matter of me "taking it". It is another case of a hunter killing a big buck and bullshit rumors taking off without any merit. Give the guy some credit until facts prove otherwise. It would be easy for a internet surfer to run across this and the rumor starts that this deer was a captive deer and so on. Lets just put any rumors to rest before they ever get started. This is a legit wild buck killed legally and ethically by a veteran hunter that has paid his dues. If anyone has information to the contrary they should be contacting the law enforcement authorities and letting them investigate it rather than starting rumors

Jason, all of the tags I have seen in Western Illinois are green.. Maybe two different printings or something? Good luck this season.

OK Don. I see your point. I still think you're being hypersensitive, but I understand your point.

Dang Don, it was a joke. I know nothing about the buck, the hunt, or the compound shooter. Nothing at all. No rumors, nada. Outside of this site I don't keep up with the modern deer hunting industry news like everyone else.
I just made up a funny that apparently you didn't think was funny. Sorry chief. |

Jerry, I guess I am just a little jumpy about these situations after my fiasco from last season .... you know a guy tends to get that way when he answers to false rumors on a daily basis for a couple of months or so concerning a buck he shot ... and when DNR comes out and does an investigation and yet doesnt even bother to interview 3 people that were on the scene and fully took part in the same actions as a fourth person who was charged ..... when DNR confiscates a deer because of its size when such a seizure was illegal under Illinois state satutes ..... when a DNR CPO calls a phone number on a flyer concerning an incident and fails to tell the person he is calling that he is a DNR employee and just fishing for information .... when a DNR employee carrys a copy of a magazine article into an archery shop just to bad mouth someone .... when the states attorney relays to a persons attorney that "DNR" wants a person to have points against their hunting priveledges .... when that "DNR person" is named and you recognize the name from previous dealings concerning IBS and bowhunter issues ... when a person files a "Freedom of Information" request and finds that the CPOs written report contains blatant lies to support his actions .... Yeah, I tend to get a little disturbed when I see another hunter kill a big buck and false accusations start flying with no basis for them. Lets give the guys killing big bucks the benefit of the doubt until someone has the guts to step forward with information to the contrary ... and I am not talking about rumors either, I mean if a person wants to run someone down then they should have facts and they should be willing to call law enforcement and stand behind their accusations. As for DNR ..........

No problem Don. Like I said, I was just messing around. I tend to not take deer hunting seriously at all. I certainly don't think of it in terms of someone actually having a "reputation" because of it. I guess that's important to some, and I'll try to be more sensitive to it in the future around here. It's just difficult for me to do cause for me, I don't give a rip what someone else says or thinks about me as a deer hunter. Granted, your situation was a little different, and that would bother me.
Good luck on the deer. |

dang don,
man that sucks..darn trigger happy game wardens.my friend here in the east killed a 170+ 8 point with a muzzleloader about 4 or 5 years ago. we took the deer to be checked after I took some field photos.deer was killed and tagged all legit. I the owner of the check station also owns a sporting goods store. He put the pics of the big buck up on his web site.A few days later he got a call from a guy who worked at a school for super rich kids..st andrews school to be exact.robbin williams filmed a movie there..in delaware. The caller asked some questions of the buck and that was it.About 2 or 3 days later I get a frantic call from mt friend who killed the buck.He said there were 2 federal game wardens at his door. They wanted the deer head because they were told that a big deer went missing in pennsylvania and the body was found with the head cut off! I told kenny to no speak to them and dont let them in his house...period..he left and went to work...nevetr heard from them again..I dont trust the majority of them because out here the best wardens were once on the other side..not saying all are bad..but we are no kids..we have good jobs and a family. My friend operates nuke plants in nj.I for one am so tired of this kinda crap..I have had it.I was telling mali this morning that some local accused me of something..due to seeing a black truck driving around.well come to find out that black truck is my girlfriends! about 2 weeks ago my girl was driving to a friends house with her son and another 10 year old..a guy jumps out of the woods and blocks the road.sahe said he just stood there and said nothing..well no I passed pissed...I called info and got the guys number and left him a nasty vmail..we are landowners and own a business in this community..we really dont need this and I stopped it in its tracks. no I calm and can smile. -------------------- fulton county illinois/Eastern Iowa

Most CPOs and other law enforcement officers are good people and have a tough job to do. My hat is off to them.
